All about compressed air production

The air in all its states

Compressed air, an integral part of our daily lives

Compressed air is generally used as power source and blowing air. This energy is used to produce most of the objects that surround us, but not only. It is also part of your daily life when you go to the dentist or take the bus for example.

Compressed air, the only one whose pressure is higher than the atmospheric pressure

Compressed air is simply air at a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure. It is composed of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 1 to 2% other gases and water vapor.

The composition of compressed air is exactly the same as the air we breathe. The compressed air is kept under pressure and captured in a smaller volume. In this framework, the molecules are brought together and forcefully inserted into a smaller space.

The added value of compressed air is that it can be stored at high pressure. It then becomes an indispensable tool for energy production. Compressed air is safe to use, easy to store and has many versatile uses.

The compressor, the ultimate solution to contain compressed air

The air is compressed by a compressor, its purpose is to suck in air via a suction valve. The air is then compressed to the desired volume and released into the storage tank through a discharge valve. This compression process is made possible by an electric motor.

There are two types of air movement:

Positive Displacement - Positive (volumetric) displacement forces air into a confined space, usually through the movement of a mechanical device.

Dynamic displacement - Compared to a positive displacement compressor, which physically reduces the volume of air captured, the dynamic compressor significantly increases the air velocity. The energy created from this builds up air pressure.

Zero defect air quality

When selecting your ideal compressor, it is essential to consider the quality of the outgoing air.

We refer to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which establishes different classes of air purity, which define the cleanliness of the air.

ISO Class 1

The ISO Class 1 standard requires a low oil concentration and includes equipment that can be considered oil-free, however it does not represent the highest level of air cleanliness as the air that emerges may contain undesirable molecules.

ISO Class 0

This ISO Class 0 standard guarantees 100% air purity. This new class was brought into existence to meet the growing demands for sterile air within the industry.

This standard is highly recommended in the food, medical and pharmaceutical sectors. This standard has become the cleanest solution available today.
